SHARADOTSAV 2024 will be co-hosted by SARASHI and Foundation of Light on Oct 12-13 at Foundation of Light, 391 Turkey Hill Road, Ithaca, NY 14850.

Please note that ADMISSION is FREE for most events in the 2-day program but REGISTRATION is required. A highlight of the program will be a scintillating vocal concert by acclaimed South Asian musician, Vidushi Sanhita Nandi, whose debut film song was shortlisted for an Oscar 88th Academy Award in the best original composition category. This is a FREE ADMISSION concert.

 

Tickets will only be required for DAY 1 (Sat, Oct 12) dinner and Day 2 (Sun, Oct 13) lunch and attendees can hop-in and hop-out of Sharadotsav 2024 at any time.

 

The word “Sharodotsav” literally translates to Autumn Festival. is one of the most popular festivals in South Asia that celebrates the rites of the Fall season through the worship of Mother Goddess Durga who symbolizes the power behind life and creation, the source of all blessings and bounties that sustain life on earth and the force that enables good to prevail over evil. Festivities marking this event in South Asia are often spectacular and involve scripture recitations, high voltage performance arts, revelry, gift-giving, family homecomings, feasting, and public processions. The New York Times has described it as “a Hindu Mardi Gras”, and UNESCO has listed it as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

 

This is the first time that such an event will be hosted in Ithaca, NY.
